Funeral services for Norman Fanning, a native of Pattonsburg, were held Monday, at the Heaton- Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family has requested memorials to American Legion Post No. 359 or V.F.W. Post No. 6760.
Norman B. “N.B.” Fanning, 71, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Fanning was born April 11, 1932, in Pattonsburg, to Loy Fanning and Virginia (Bozarth) Thuman. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School.
Mr. Fanning was owner-operator of N.B. Fanning Trash Service for 30 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 359, and a member of V.F.W. Post No. 6760.
Mr. Fanning was preceded in death by his father, Loy Fanning; and brother, Jackie Fanning. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Virginia and Roderick “Dad” Thuman; three sons, Jack, Mike and Tom Fanning, all of St. Joseph; and two daughters, Linda Tyler, St. Joseph, and Terry Kernes, Agency; one stepdaughter, Cathie Knocks, St. Joseph; two sisters, Judith Puckett, St. Joseph; and Paula Veraguth, Cosby; numerous grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
