The Adventist Community Service Center has issued its 2003 Yearly Report to its supporters over the past year. The service center was able to serve the public as a result of contributions from donors from Gallatin and the surrounding community.

Volunteers averaged around 18 persons each week and gave over 4,503 hours of service. An average of 120 families each month came to the center. Government commodity foods went to 150 families. An average of 287 people each month made use of the center with 30,354 articles of clothing distributed, along with 650 pairs of shoes. There were 198 articles of bedding given away, 16 pieces of furniture, and 1,134 miscellaneous items.

One of the center’s favorite projects is a layette box. Volunteers crochet baby Afghans, booties and hats and sew child-size quilts. Some volunteers tack, others sew the binding and someone else stitches down the binding. Each layette has tiny articles of clothing that will fit a newborn.

Through the Thrift Shop revenue the service center helped folks with utility deposits, emergency food and auto fuel, prescription costs, legal fees, etc. Along with the monies from the Thrift Shop, large sums of cash have been donated for humanitarian work.

The center appreciates the volunteer workers, those who have donated money, and those who have participated both in donating and receiving clothing.
