John and Wanda (Holley) Brown will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 31. The couple were high school sweethearts from Coffey, where they met and have resided for more than 50 years.
John retired from the Missouri State Highway Department after 38 years in 1996. Wanda worked at the Crestview Inn Nursing Home in Bethany for 11 years, where she left in 1996 to join John in retirement.
The couple has seven children: Sandra Lane of Houston, Texas, Diane Rouner of Jameson, Debbie Loxterman of Gallatin, Robert Brown of Gallatin, Larry Brown of Cameron, Greg Brown of Cameron and Brent Brown of Coffey. They have 28 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
