Gay graduates from SWMSU, on dean’s list

Arah Gay, daughter of Dave and Pam Shelton, graduated Dec. 19, 2003, from Southwest Missouri State University with a B.S. degree in music education. There were a total of 1,200 students graduating that day. Arah also earned a spot on the Dean’s List with a perfect 4.0 average.

Named to honor rolls at NWMSU

The Office of the Registrar at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville announces the names of students who were named to the Academic or President’s Honor Roll at the end of the fall 2003 trimester.

To be included on the Academic Honor Roll a student must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours and attain a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale. Students named to the President’s Honor Roll have attained a perfect 4.0 GPA for the trimester.

Area students on Northwest’s fall trimester honor roll include: Nathan Uthe of Altamont, President’s; Nathan Henderson, President’s, Roxanne Hostetler and Brandon McLey, Academic, all of Gallatin; Chase Cornett, President’s, and Brennan Leeper, Academic, both of Pattonsburg; Nena Woodward, President’s, and Caleb Jeffries, Academic, both of McFall.

Two on dean’s list at SMSU

Each semester, students at Southwest Missouri State University who attain academic excellence are named to the dean’s list. For undergraduate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the fall semester and maintaining at least a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Of the 15,873 undergraduate students enrolled during the fall 2003 semester, 3,458 earned a spot on the list, including Kelly Story and Andrew Weldon of Gallatin.

Missouri Western State College recently announced the names of students selected to the Dean’s List. Among the Western students selected was Kari Dickinson of Gallatin.

North Central Missouri College announces the 2003 fall semester honors list

Fifty-six full-time students were named to the President’s List with a perfect 4.0 grade point average while one hundred full-time students were named to the Dean’s List with a GPA of at least 3.5. Part-time students were also recognized on the President’s and Dean’s Honor Lists.

Among those on the Full-Time President’s List are Rachel Miller and Penelope Kimberling of Jamesport; Cassandra Richards and Candessa Williams of Gallatin; Amy Gibson and Sarah Ward of Gilman City; and Gay Buzzin of Coffey.

Those on the Full-Time Dean’s List are Christine Beagley, Jillian Sperry, Jason Tibbles, and Jenny Youngs of Gilman City; and Serena Lane, Heather Lewis and Kristin Payne of Jamesport; Leesa Dickerson, Jim Hallock, William Jarboe, and Tracey Hackett Jeffers of Gallatin; Julie Vyrostek of Pattonsburg; Amber Estep of Winston; and Seth Herrold of Coffey.

Those among the Part-Time President’s List are Brenda Pliley, Melody Prescott and Jeanette Stretch of Jamesport; and Toni Woodring of Gilman City; Tiffony Esposito, Jana Lee, David Michael, and Kim Spidle of Gallatin.

Appearing on the Part-Time Dean’s List is Neil Hostetler of Jamesport; Estella Granville and Samantha Ward of Gilman City; Regina Burge and Lisa Michael of Gallatin; and Julie Fisher of Jameson.

Baker announces winter graduates

Baker University awarded nearly 600 undergraduate and graduate degrees on Dec. 14 in Baldwin City.

Richard Davis, creator of KC Masterpiece Barbecue Sauce and co-founder of KC Masterpiece Barbecue & Grill restaurants, and Donald Fletcher, president of Hallmark North America and International, addressed the graduates. Both speakers received University honors.

Among the graduates was Sherron E Provance, MBA, of Winston.

Baker University has been listed as one of the top 35 schools in the Midwest in the annual college-ranking by U.S. News & World Report, and selected as a top school in the Midwest by the Princeton Review. Baker is also the oldest and one of the most respected four-year schools in the state. The University also is known for its School of Nursing in Topeka and its School of Professional and Graduate Studies in Overland Park, Topeka, Wichita and Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Missouri Valley College is proud to announcne that Stephanie J. Caldwell of Winston qualified for inclusion on the Missouri Valley College Dean’s List for Fall 2003. The Dean’s List is composed of all full time students with a semester grade point average of 3.3 or higher for no fewer than 12 graded hours.
