Mary Lollar Merritt, 88, Gallatin, formerly of Altamont, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Funeral services for Mary Merritt were held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday), Dec. 10, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at Mt. Ayr Cemetery, Altamont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin Senior Citizens Center.
Mary Lollar Merritt, 88, Gallatin, formerly of Altamont, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Lollar was born June 8, 1915, to Quincy and Emma “Clark” Smith in Civil Bend. She graduated from Altamont High School in 1933.
Mrs. Lollar married Charles H. Lollar in 1935. They lived and farmed east of Altamont. He died in 1978.
On Sept. 24, 1983, she married Fordie Roger. He died in 1996.
Mrs. Lollar married Olin Merritt on Dec. 2, 2000, in Altamont. They made their home on a farm near Gallatin.
She worked at Lamberts Manufacturing in Gallatin for many years, and then at the Gallatin Senior Center where she was a cook.
Mrs. Lollar was a member of the Altamont Christian Church and belonged to the Lions Club and Kil-Care Club of Altamont.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Olin Rudolph Smith; an infant son; an infant granddaughter; and one daughter, Thelma Faye Jackson in 1994.
Survivors include her husband, Olin, Cameron; one son, Marvin Lollar, Altamont; two stepsons, Robert Merritt, Southampton, Mass., and Phil Merritt, Carlsbad, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
