A full house at the Courter Theatre in Gallatin enjoyed a variety of entertainment when Dance Essentials and Gayla’s performed “Let Heaven and Nature Swing” on Dec. 7. There was no charge for admission to the show. Free will donations were accepted to benefit local charitable organizations.

Students from ages two to 18 demonstrated their talents by performing Christmas selections through tap, jazz, clogging, tumbling and pom-pon. The Gallatin High School Swing Choir under the direction of Sheryl Warren added to the Christmas spirit by singing Christmas melodies.

Santa and Mrs. Claus delighted the children and adults with a visit and candy canes. Santa also guest-starred in the clogging and pom-pon groups (with Mrs. Claus coaching).

The studios also honored the Biblical fact of Christmas with the lyrical/jazz performance of “What Can I Give Him?” for the finale. Mary and Baby Jesus appeared at the end to make the afternoon a complete and reverential Christmas.

The studios will be starting their next semester in January 2004 with the spring recital “Let’s Dance.”

Pom-Pon groups, under the instruction of Heather Cole, will perform their Christmas routines at the Gallatin High School basketball game on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

The girls will dance their cheer-style Christmas collage numbers during the halftime of the girl’s game. (Santa may even throw a “kick” in the line performance!) Gallatin hosts the Gilman City Hawks, with the girl’s game starting at 6:30 p.m. The Pom-Pon groups are under the studio instruction of Vera Nelson’s Dance Essentials.
