Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Degenhardt, mother of Lynn Fender of Jamesport, was held Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Parish Rosary was held Monday.

Mary R. Degenhardt, 76, St. Joseph, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at a St. Joseph hospital.

Mrs. Degenhardt was born March 27, 1927, in Fonda, Iowa. She lived in St. Joseph for the past 35 years.

On Sept. 25, 1948, in San Francisco, Calif., she married John O. Degenhardt, who survives of the home.

Mrs. Degenhardt worked at Boehringer-Inhgelheim for almost 20 years.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. She volunteered at the Food Kitchen and House of Bread. She was also a member of the Boehringer-Inhgelheim Veterans Club.

Mrs. Degenhardt was preceded in death by a son, Hugh Degenhardt; two brothers, John Huston, Paul Huston; and a sister, Delores Hay.

Other survivors include three other daughters, Kim Guthrie, Newton, Iowa, Jill Sigrist, Wathena, Kan., and Lori Rone, Olathe, Kan.; one son, John Degenhardt Jr., Covington, Ga.; two sisters, Patricia Enockson, Las Vegas, Nev., and Maureen Pedersen, Pocahontas, Iowa; and eight grandchildren.
