Harold R. Burnett Sr., 47, Polo, and Lyle E. Nieman, 40, Hamilton, were arrested Oct. 21 and each charged with the Class C felony of possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and the Class B felony of attempted theft of anhydrous ammonia. They were arrested behind MFA Agri-Services on Highway 6 in Gallatin. Both men are being held at Midwest Security Housing on $100,000 bond.
Two burglaries and one theft occurred at Lake Viking the weekend of Oct. 18-19. The reports were made to Lake Viking Security as well as to the sheriff’s department. A VCR, Nintendo games, a mattress and assorted tools were reported stolen from a camper in Campground #2 belonging to Mark W. Beers of Agency. Furniture and tools were taken from a residence which belongs to Ivan Rinehart of Independence. A Halloween yard decoration was taken from the residence of Jack and Linda Berten.
A burglary occurred at Wait’s High and Dry Self Storage II in Pattonsburg around Oct. 16-17. According to Norman O’Hare, manager, locks were cut off of eight storage units with a large bolt cutter sometime during the night. The locks were all removed from the premises. Mr. O’Hare had notified all renters, and it is unknown what, if anything, was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Danny C. Coones, 40, Harrisonville, was arrested Oct. 24 on a Bates County felony warrant for non-support. He posted $500 bond.
Cindy L. Newton, 38, Gilman City was charged Oct. 24 with the Class D felony of DWI and misdemeanor driving without a valid license. She posted $7,650 bond.
Steven K. Siegel, 36, Liberty, was charged with a bond violation Oct. 21 and is being held at Ray County Security Housing. Bond was denied. He had been charged in March, 2003, with attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, Class C felony, possession of a controlled substance, Class C felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, Class C felony.
A 28-year-old Ames, Iowa, man was charged Oct. 25 with misdemeanor DWI and speeding. He posted $850 bond.
A 22-year-old Princeton man was arrested Oct. 27 for misdemeanor DWI, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. He is being held at Midwest Security Housing on $1,250 bond.
A 24-year-old Trenton woman was charged Oct. 23 with failure to appear on a charge of passing bad checks. She is being held at Midwest Security Housing on $250 bond.
