Leonard H. Rainey, 79, Jamesport, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Liberty Hospital.
Funeral services for Leonard Rainey were held Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Jamesport. Burial was at Masonic Cemetery, Jamesport. Arrangements were by McWilliams Funeral Home, Jamesport. Memorials may be made to the Jamesport United Methodist Church.
Leonard H. Rainey, 79, Jamesport, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Liberty Hospital.
Mr. Rainey was born Aug. 11, 1924, to Homer Lee and Emma LuVada (Maxwell) Rainey in Albany. He graduated from Jamesport High School in 1942.
Mr. Rainey was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines and Tokyo, Japan, with the Military Police from 1944 to 1946.
Mr. Rainey married Esther Leona Kearns on June 22, 1947, in Holton, Kan.
They lived on a farm north of Jamesport until he retired and moved to town where he continued his trucking business.
He was a member of the Jamesport Memorial VFW Post #4131.
Survivors include his wife, Esther, of the home; three sons, Leonard of Rushville, Johnny and Homer both of Jamesport; two daughters, Marjorie McKee of Stafford and Doris Diggs of Skidmore; two sisters, Doris Prindle of Bryan, Tex. and Virginia Lollar of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
