Preschooler MiKah Heckenbach, Gallatin, received a Clifford board book and stuffed dog as prizes for winning in the 2003 Summer Reading contest sponsored by Wolfner Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, a division of Secretary of State Matt Blunt’s office.
Readers used specialized charts according to their age group to keep track of the time they spent reading. All participants who achieved their reading goal were entered in the grand prize drawing and were eligible to choose a book to keep in the braille, cassette or large print format according to their need.
Donations and no tax dollars were used to purchase grand prizes.
