Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs find themselves running out of chances for a home field softball victory after suffering an 11-3 loss to Maysville

Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs find themselves running out of chances for a home field softball victory after suffering an 11-3 loss to Maysville on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs hope to gain a win at home on Thursday when they host the Tri-County Lady Mustangs. Gallatin will also host Worth County next Tuesday in a makeup game from a rain-out on Sept. 11.
The Lady Bulldogs will participate in the district tournament held at Trenton High School, beginning on Wednesday. Tournaments seeds will be drawn tonight (Wednesday). Also in the 5- team field are Hamilton, South Harrison, Trenton and Maysville.
Maysville locked up a share of the GRC softball title with Tuesday’s victory as the Lady Wolverines moved to 7-1 in the league and 14-3 overall. With the loss, Gallatin falls to 6-12 overall and 2-5 in the conference. The Lady Wolverines broke open Tuesday’s game with 6 runs in the top of the 5th inning making full use of 2 singles, 4 walks and a pair of Lady Bulldog errors.
Maysville scored twice to open the game but Gallatin came back with a run in the bottom of the 1st inning when Brittney Hixson singled, moved to second on a Lindsey Robertson sacrifice, and came home on a Lindsey Love 2-out single. The Lady Bulldogs tacked on lone runs in each of the 5th and 6th innings. Trisha Sprague reached on an error and eventually scored in the 5th. Back- to-back doubles by Robertson and Love accounted for the final GHS tally.
Each team reached base on 5 hits but Lady Wolverines were able to use 10 walks in producing 21 baserunners in the contest.

Tourney action at Hamilton
Wind, rain, blowing dust and a number of collisions marked the day for the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday. Gallatin finished 1-2 and in 3rd place at Saturday’s Hamilton Tournament. LeBlond won the championship by way of a victory over Hamilton. North Platte finished 4th.
Lindsey Love threw a complete game but the Lady Bulldogs could not make up for a lone LeBlond run in the 2nd inning as they fell, 1-0, in their first game. Shortstop Lindsey Love, who stayed in the game after a collision at second base, doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored a run. Kelsie Parker singled, tripled and drove in 3 runs. Katie Ward singled twice, drove in 2 runs and scored. Brittney Hixson went 3 for 5 with a run scored and rbi. Kate Jarboe doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Hamilton drilled the Lady Bulldogs for 8 runs in the 6th inning and won, 17-2, in the final game of the day for the GHS girls. Parker went 2 for 2 but left the field by ambulance in the top of the 3rd, with the score tied, 2-2, when a pitched ball bounced off the plate and got under her catcher’s mask. She was examined by a doctor and released but missed early action this week with a sore neck. Gallatin scored lone runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. Hixson, Love, Ward and Trisha Sprague each hit safely for the Lady Bulldogs.
