The Winston R-6 Board of Education voted to take sealed bids on the sale of the old school van during their regular meeting held Thursday, Sept. 18. Bids will be opened at the next board meeting.

A request to rent the gym for a community dance was tabled until the next board meeting.

Principals reported high school attendance was 94% for August, with an enrollment of 86 in grades 7-12. Elementary attendance rate for August was 96%, with an enrollment of 118 in grades K-6 and 19 preschoolers.

The board reviewed and approved the following program reports: follow-up data; guidance program; and federal program administration.

The board reviewed and approved the calendar of events; adopted board policy updates; and reviewed AYP results for 2002-2003 school year.

The next regular board meeting was set for Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003.

Board members present at Thursday’s meeting were Gary Caldwell, Chretta Mastin, Alan Ward, Melvin Lee, Julie Clark and David Neth.
