The Lady Bulldogs evened their season and conference records at 5-5 and 2-2, respectively, with a 5-2 victory over Albany on Tuesday. A 3-run 3rd inning was all the Lady Bulldogs would need to get back on the winning track. Lindsey Robertson and the GHS defense held the Lady Warriors to single runs in each of the 2nd and 7th innings.

Robertson’s bat put Gallatin on the scoreboard in the 3rd as she tripled to drive in Lindsey Love, who reached base on an error. Cori Nichols reached on a bunt. Sheila Smith grounded to second and Robertson scored. Nichols stole home with 2 outs to give Gallatin a 3-1 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs tacked on a run in the 5th when Parker again bunted safely, stole both second and third bases, and came home on Katie Ward’s sacrifice fly. Love stole home in the 7th inning to add an insurance run for Gallatin.

Gallatin travels to Trenton Thursday in non-conference action. The Lady Bulldogs are at Lawson on Monday and come home Tuesday looking for their first home win against GRC rival Hamilton.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped an 11-4 non-conference contest to Mid-Buchanan on Monday.

Mid-Buchanan’s Lady Dragons batted around in the top of the 6th inning Monday and scored 5 runs to break a 4-4 tie. They added 2 more tallies in the 7th. Lindsey Robertson took the loss after relieving Lindsey Love to start the 6th. Love struck out 3, walked 4, hit a batter and scattered 5 hits over 5 innings.

Mid-Buchanan took a 2-0 lead after the top of the 3rd, but the Lady Bulldogs battled back to tie the score in their half of the frame. Parker singled and moved to third base when Ward reached safely on a bad throw. Parker scored on a wild pitch. Brittney Hixson’s 2-out triple to left drove in Ward.

Gallatin took the lead with a run in the 4th when Trisha Sprague hit a 2-out, line drive triple and scored on a liner by Sheila Smith past the shortstop’s outstretched glove. The seesaw scoring continued in the 5th inning as the Lady Dragons pushed a pair of runs across the plate. The Lady Bulldogs knotted the score at 4-4 in their half of the 5th when Parker led off with a triple and scored when the overthrow rolled in the GHS dugout.

Dragon hurler Lindsay Ussary fanned 14 batters and finished the game strong by striking out 4 of the final 7 Lady Bulldogs she faced in the 6th and 7th frames.
