Mary E. Smith will be 80 years old on Sept. 15. She was born in 1923 in the Spring Hill area near Chillicothe. Her parents were Stirl and Gertie Lamp. She has three children, Marjorie E. Bowlin, St. Joseph; Gary L. Smith, Excelsior Springs; and Julia A. Thomas, Mechanicsville, Va.
Her spouse, Marion W. Smith, died Jan. 17, 1998.
She has five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two septgrandchildren.
