Funeral services for Paul Harley Woody, a native of Daviess County, were held Aug. 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Sparta, Ill., with arrangements by McDaniel Funeral Home of Sparta.

Paul Harley Woody, 74, Sparta, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at Sparta Community Hospital.

Mr. Woody was born on Oct. 8, 1928, near Gallatin. He graduated from Gallatin High School. He attended Dairy School in Kansas and Rankin School in St. Louis.

Mr. Woody started his working career with M.F.A. of Gallatin, then went into the dairy business. He was a fieldman for Sealtest Dairy and retired form Gateway Farm Service in July, 1992, where he ran the Sparta Service Station.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sparta. He served as a 4-H leader and a Sunday School teacher.

He married Donna Fae Pauls on May 23, 1948. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by one infant daughter; one brother, Carl of Maysville; and three sisters.

Other survivors include one son, David Woody of Ellisville; four daughters, Delilah Treece of Jonesboro, Ardyth Potter of Nome, Alaska, Vea Fae Hodo of Wimberly, Texas, and Teresa Vogt of Campbell Hill; one brother, James Woody of Kansas City; two sisters, Irene Hartley of Cameron and Cecilia Bennett of Kansas City; and nine grandchildren.
