Funeral services for Wesley F. Thompson, a native of Daviess County, were held Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Trenton under the direction of the Whitaker Eads Funeral Home of Trenton. Burial was in the Jamesport Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of the Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Wesley F. Thompson, 95, Trenton, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Mr. Thompson was born on Sept. 7, 1907, in Daviess County. On Dec. 20, 1933, he married Venna Ruth Chrisop at the Chrisop home in Jamesport.
Mr. Thompson farmed as well as working for a liquid fertilizer company for 30 years.
He was a member of the Laredo Lions and a deacon at the First Baptist Church for 50 years.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Thompson; and two sisters, Clara Thompson and Mary Yates Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Venna, of the home; one daughter, Ruth Scott of Trenton; one son, Gene Thompson of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Harold of Jamesport; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
