Funeral services for James O. Harris, a native of Gallatin, were held Saturday at Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Service in Polo. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.

James O. Harris, 71, Polo, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at the Kansas City veteran’s hospital.

Born on Sept. 7, 1931, in Gallatin, Mr. Harris had lived in the St. Joseph, and Polo areas for the past 20 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army.

Mr. Harris worked as a mechanic for many years.

Mr. Harris was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard for over 20 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 359 of St. Joseph.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Hugh; and a granddaughter, Amanda Timmons.

Survivors include his wife, Earlene Harris of Polo; one son, Rick Harris of St. Joseph; four daughters, Jackie Atkison, Shelly Scott and Megan McAndrews, all of St. Joseph; and Derrine Frazee of Avenue City; a sister, Anna Jane Reed of Arizona; 18 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
