The Daviess County Jr. Livestock Show is being held at Dockery Park in Gallatin July 9-10-11 and 12.

The Invitational 4-H and FFA Livestock Show is open to all 4-H and FFA members living in any county in Missouri and enrolled in respective livestock projects, or belonging to 4-H Clubs or FFA Chapters. Points will be earned in conjunction with the Invitational Show to Daviess County only FFA and 4-H members.

Brad Tummons is the General Superintendent of the show. Doug Alden is head of the Jr. Rodeo scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. The rodeo is sponsored by the Gallatin Men’s Club. John Sullenger is in charge of concessions. Aaron Ishmael is president of the Fair Board.

The 2003 Daviess County Queen is Amanda Bohannon, daughter of Mike and Linda Bohannon.

Amanda is a 2003 graduate of Gallatin R-5 and plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, obtaining a degree in the field of agriculture business and management.

First runner up is Lindi Wayne, daughter of Jim and Sharon Wayne. Lindi is a 2003 graduate and plans to attended NCMC in Trenton, studying either theater or business.

The contestants were interviewed by three judges, performed a talent/speech, and participated in an evening gown competition. Amanda sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and Lindi tap-danced to “Tuna Trot.”

The Flower Bin provided a bouquet of flowers for the queen and first runner up The crown and sash were provided by the Daviess County Fair Board. A plaque will be presented to Miss Bohannon Saturday evening provided by Dowell Investments.

Amanda will reign over the 2003 Daviess County Fair this week. She will be assisting at the livestock shows and rodeo. In August Amanda will represent Daviess County in the Missouri State Fair Queen Contest held aug. 7-8. At the state level entrants compete for $2,100 in scholarship money.

Any Daviess County girl between the ages of 17-22 is invited to participate in next year’s competition. Contact Ida Dowell for further information or see any Daviess County Fair Board member.

July 9, Wednesday: 4-7 p.m. – Enter 4-H Exhibits – Achievement Day

July 10, Thursday: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. – view 4-H exhibits at the courthouse; 5 p.m. – beef in place; 6 p.m. – beef show; 7 p.m – Pee Wee show

July 11, Friday: 8 a.m. – sheep in place; 9 a.m. – lead line show; 9 a.m. – sheep show, goats to follow sheep show; 8 a.m. – horse in place; 9 p.m. – horse show (including saddle classes); 3 p.m. – Jr. Rodeo sponsored by Gallatin Men’s Club

July 12, Saturday: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – view 4-H exhibits; 9 a.m. – rabbits, poultry & water fowl; 3 p.m. – swine in place; 4 p.m. – swine show; 5 p.m. – barbecue; 5:30 p.m. – greased pig contest.
