Funeral services for John Scott Kane will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at the United Methodist Church in Waverly, Kan. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. Mr. Kane will lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 7-8 p.m.

John Scott “Scotty” Kane, 76, Waverly, Kan., died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Newman Hospital in Emporia, Kan.

Mr. Kane was born January 31, 1927 in Harrisonville. He spent his childhood in Freeman and graduated from high school there.

He moved to Waverly, Kan., in 1949, and was employed as a mechanic for Joe Rodgers Chevrolet in Waverly until 1964 when he opened Kane Repair, which he operated until 1997.

Mr. Kane was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wavery.

He married Deloris Ellen Cameron on April 18, 1948, at Kansas City.

Mr. Kane was preceded in death by one son, John William, in Oct. 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris Kane of Waverly, Kan.; one daughter, Jean Marie Vandergriff of Odessa, Texas; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
