The community of Jamesport and the surrounding area was saddened to hear of the death of Leroy Gardner, 38.

Mr. Gardner was fatally injured in a one-vehicle accident at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Mr. Gardner leaves behind a wife, Delana, and four young children.

Mr. Gardner was northbound on Hwy. 190, two miles north of Route V, when his 1986 Chevrolet pickup went off the right side of the roadway. He over-corrected, went into a skid, crossed the roadway, and struck a tree on the west side of the road. The pickup came to rest on its wheels.

Mr. Gardner was ejected.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Daviess County Coroner David McWilliams.

The pickup was totaled and towed to Jerry’s Garage in Jamesport.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. J.G. Huber, assisted by Cpl. R.A. Sherman and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.
