David Tolen reported that he had inspected the CART rock delivered to Jackson Township and James Lewis had tested the rock, finding it acceptable.
The commission reviewed the 2003 budget to actual reports.
Bill Breeden, Alltel, met with the commission regarding the construction of bridge project BRO (22) and the timing for the moving of the telephone lines prior to the July 1 construction date.
Kevin Heldenbrand, sheriff, met with the commission reviewing his budget.
Georgia Maxwell, recorder, met with the commission concerning the salary schedule for office holders taking office in 2002. The commission stated that they would continue to pay the recorder’s salary as appropriated.
The commission inspected a road in Jamesport Special Road District, following complaints by the road district of a landowner fencing near the right-of-way. The commission determined that it is a matter for the road district board members to settle with the landowners.
A 2 p.m., as advertised, the commission opened bids for the sale of surplus equipment. Bids for the AC backhoe included J&G Quarry $3,750; Daily Equipment $5,150; and Bob Sutton $2,500.
David Holcomb moved to accept the bid from Daily Equipment and reject the bid for the pickup.
Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried.
Daniel Pfeifer, Senator Talent’s office, met with the commission for introductory purposes and to discuss county issues.
A listing of those filing “Tier 2″ reports for hazardous materials was received from the State Emergency Management Agency. Copies will be forwarded to fire districts.
