Even when you’re playing in a post-graduation all-star game, it’s nice to be on the winning side.
Both 2003 Gallatin High School grads, Roxi Davitt and Will Jarboe, participated on winning teams Saturday night in the 12th Annual District 26F Lions All-Star classic held at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. GHS boys basketball coach David Prather even got into the act as the assistant coach for the winning Gold boys team.
Davitt, who will play next season at William Jewell College, scored 6 points as a member of the Purple girls team, which defeated its Gold counterpart, 75-56, in Saturday night’s opening game. East Buchanan High School grad Leigh Mead led the Purple with 20 points, including 12 points from 3-point shots.
North Daviess graduate Darcie Iddings was a co-scoring leader for the Gold team. She pumped in 8 points along with Maryville’s Cauleen Bradley. Iddings also notched a 3-pointer in the game.
Jarboe scored 4 points for the Purple boys, who needed double overtime to defeat the Gold, 100- 98. St. Joe Benton grad Martin Rucker, who will play football at MU this fall, led the Purple with 24 points. South Harrison’s Seth Wooderson added 15 points for the winners. The Gold team was led by Seth Engelken’s 24-point effort. Engelken will play roundball next season at Texas A&M at Corpus Cristi.
