Fifteen members of the Gallatin FFA Chapter recently participated in leadership training at Camp Rising Sun in Kaiser. This week-long experience provides training in leadership as well as outstanding fun and recreation for members from across the state.

Attending from Gallatin were Levi Alden, Matt Hostetler, Nic Burrell, Derrick Love, Riley Rains, Andrew Adkison, Clayton Baker, Kyle Croy, Cassie Carder, Hattie rains, Kate Jarboe, Jessica Fifer, Laura Youtsey, Stefanie Dowell and Amy Hudlemeyer.

Members won several awards. Hattie rains served as a camp officer and both she and Kate Jarboe received state leadership medals for their efforts. Cassie Carder was named as Gallatin’s “All Around Camper.”

Stefanie Dowell received third place in the Knowledge Contest. Hattie Rains placed first in Creed Speaking. The Rituals Team of Cassie Carder, Hattie Rains, Stefanie Dowell, Amy Hudlemeyer, Matt Hostetler, Kate Jarboe and Levi Alden placed first as well.

Kate Jarboe received third in the Conservation Awards program. Nick Burrell won the singles badminton title and teamed with Kate Jarboe to win the doubles title. These two were also part of the winning basketball squad. Others on this team included Cassie Carder, Derrick Love, Andrew Adkison, Clayton Baker, Amy Hudlemeyer and Kyle Croy.

State officers Nicki Busdieher, Allison Yarnell, Brian Worthington and Casey Blevins, along with Leadership Director Crystal Mathews provided direction for the nearly 200 members attending. The theme of this year’s camp was Lights, Camera, FFA Action.

Camp Rising Sun is located in Kaiser near the Lake of the Ozarks. The six week camp will host over 1,000 members this year.
