Friday, May 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., senior citizens from across Northwest Missouri are invited to the 10th Annual Senior Festival at Middle School, 915 S. Park, in Cameron.
On Friday, May 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., senior citizens from across Northwest Missouri are invited to the 10th Annual Senior Festival at Middle School, 915 S. Park, in Cameron. Just turn on Highway 69 South (Walnut St.) into Cameron and follow the signs to the event.
The day will begin with health screening from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., including hearing, skin, blood pressure, blood glucose, colorectal, vision, memory and oral screening. An exhibit area, with over 20 exhibitors, will be open for viewing during this time.
The opening session will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Rona McNally of Warrensburg highlighting the SORT program (Seniors Organized to Restore Trust). Morning musical entertainment will feature a barbershop quartet, The Four Dimensions, of Trenton. The noon luncheon, catered by the Cameron Nutrition Site, will be available for $4. Special entertainment throughout the day will be provided by staff from OATS, Division of Senior Services and Senior Center administrators.
The afternoon session will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Linda Allen, Director of MO Division of Senior Services. The day’s activities will conclude with a lively competition of entertainment and skits by area senior centers. Cash prizes will be awarded to senior centers winning the competition, compliments of Gallatin Lions, Cameron Elks and Andrew County Ministries.
The Senior Festival is sponsored by the Northwest Missouri Area Agency on Aging. The event is funded in part from Older American Act funds, distributed by Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services.
The facility is air conditioned and handicapped accessible. There is no registration fee. Bring your stadium chairs. For information on OATS transportation, check with you local contact person. Be present and win door prizes provided by area senior centers.
