Majiel Gibbar, 47, Gallatin received moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at about 10:30 p.m. last Wednesday, May 7, on US 36 in Buchanan County, about eight miles east of St. Joseph.
The accident occurred as Jimmy Heinichs, 30, Easton, was eastbound on US 36 and had slowed to turn south on MO 31 when the Gibbar vehicle struck his vehicle in the rear. The Gibbar vehicle crossed MO 31 and came to rest off the east side of the roadway. The Heinichs vehicle overturned onto the driver’s side, skidded, and then overturned over an embankment and came to rest on its wheels.
Mr. Heinichs received moderate injuries and was taken by Heartland Ambulance to Heartland Hospital. He was wearing his safety device. Majiel Gibbar was also taken by Hartland Ambulance to Heartland Hospital. It is unknown if Gibbar was wearing a safety device.
The accident was investigated by Cpl. K.G. Haywood, assisted by Tpr. D.R. Tyes and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department.
Majiel Gibbar received a summons for C and I driving.
