Charles and Alpha (Troxel) Boyer will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary and Larry and Charlene (Boyer) Ballenger will celebrate their 50th at a reception from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, at the Highway Christian Church. The church is located 3 ½ miles south of Bethany on Hwy. 13, exit 88 on I-35.

Charles and Alpha were married at Gallatin on June 20, 1933. They lived in Gilman City until 1945 when they moved to the Jameson area where Charles farmed and butchered and Alpha worked for the Cap Factories in Pattonsburg and Gallatin. They both retired in 1985 moving to Gilman City. Their address is 117 Gilbert Avenue, Gilman City, Mo. 64642.
Charles and Alpha’s children are Charlene Ballenger of Kearney; Nancy McNeely of Pattonsburg; B.L. Boyer of Lenexa, Kan.; and Margaret Kindig of Golden, Colo. They have 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Larry and Charlene were married in Shawnee Mission, Kan., in 1953. They lived in Raytown until they retired to Kearney in 1991. Their children are Randall Ballenger of Holt; Douglas Ballenger of Kearney; and Janet Squire of Jacksonville, Fla. They have two grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.
