Brook Elizabeth Carder, Gallatin High School senior, has been elected 2003-2004 Area 2 State Vice President of the Missouri FFA Association. Carder is a member of the Gallatin FFA Chapter.

Her parents are Carl and Sherri Carder. Her advisors are Dennis Croy and Chris Henderson.

She is one of 13 state officers installed during the 75th Missouri State FFA Convention.

As an FFA member, Carder’s supervised agricultural experience program is in agribusiness placement with small beef and swine projects.

Carder has served as secretary and president for Gallatin FFA Chapter and as Area 2 president.

She has participated in the FFA Creed and Prepared Public Speaking Division II contests, and was a state finalist in both. In 2002, Carder received third place at the district advanced public speaking contest. Carder was ranked first place at State Public Speaking Camp 2003 and was second at the district Farm Bureau Speaking contest in 2003. She has competed at the state level in both the poultry and dairy cattle judging contests.

Outside of FFA, Carder has earned recognition in Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She was also a national delegate to the World Leadership Congress for the Hugh O’Brian leadership program. She served as Future Business Leaders of America treasurer and vice-president. Carder received a gold medal at the national Family Career and Community Leaders of America Illustrated Talk contest. She has served as a student council officer and is a member of National Honor Society. This past year she was a member of the All-Conference Softball Team.

Carder plans to attend North Central Missouri College through the A+ program. She wants to transfer to the University of Missouri-Columbia where she will pursue a major in agricultural education.

The Missouri FFA Association has more than 21,000 members. More than 6,500 FFA members and guests attended the 75th Annual Missouri FFA Convention held April 24-25 in Columbia.
