Knee-Hi 4-H Club Omega Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; Laureate Chapter Beta Sigma Phi
The Knee-Hi 4-H Club met April 9 at the Christian Church. President Riley Rains called the meeting to order. Breanne Brammer led the Pledge of Allegiance. Danielle Ness led the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was about a favorite sport. Camp forms are due by May 15. If members did not receive the form in the mail, they need to stop by the Extension Office to pick one up. Horse enrollment forms are due by May 1.
The club donated money to the Gallatin Prom Lock-in. May 4 has been set to work on the community service project. Bring sun tolerant plants for the flowerbed. Project leaders gave reports. Dairy Unit 1 toured Cornelius Farms in Hamilton. Crochet members completed many projects this winter.
A photography project meeting is set for April 12. Erin Croy gave a speech, “Tamworths: the New Beginning.” Hattie Rains gave the FFA Creed. 4-H Youth Specialist Katie Ketcham spoke about plans for camp and upcoming programs. She led the club in a game demonstrating teamwork. Next meeting is at 7 p.m. on May 7 at the Christian Church fellowship hall.
Omega Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the Methodist Church on March 25 with 14 members present and 12 guests. The official Founder’s Day letter has been received from international. The group donated money to the Prom Lock-in. Founder’s Day will be celebrated Saturday, April 26. Sorority sisters will have lunch at a tearoom in Lexington and visit shops afterwards.
All Beta Sigma Phi Sisters are invited to attend and help us celebrate. Members of the Friendly Venture were present and each received a yellow rose. Carol Wood, representing Laureate Delta Rho, spoke of her chapter and some of their history together. Cydney Terry, representing Omicron Phi, discussed some of the perks of sorority. President of Omega Sigma, Gina Dixon, discussed some of the history of Beta Sigma Phi. Closing ritual was said followed by Mizpah. Next meeting is at 7 p.m. on May 6.
Laureate Chapter Beta Sigma Phi met April 7 at the Arbor House in Jamesport with 12 members and one guest. Kathryn Everly sent a thank-you note to the chapter for inviting her to read her winning essay.
Members were surveyed to determine which committee they preferred to serve on. Omega Sigma Chapter invited our Chapter to lunch in Lexington, in observance of Founder’s Day. The Chapter donated $25 to Prom-lock-in. A resolution for Order of The Rose honored Betty Bird, Linda Adkins and Carol Wood. Ann Carter’s program was on making a memory quilt. Next meeting is April 21, with Lois Barton as hostess.
