The Gallatin R-5 Band received a II rating at State Band competition in Maryville on Friday, March 28. Solo and ensemble results at District Music Contest on Friday, March 28, at Maryville were as follows:

I — percussion septet of D.J. Harper, Jessica King, Haleigh Tague, Becky Macy, Alecia McKee, Garett Houghton and Aaron Everly; I- — trombone solo – Laura McCann, oboe solo – Katie Heldenbrand;

II+ — trumpet solo – Katie Jarboe; II — clarinet trio of Jennifer Youtsey, Emily Cornett and Kayce Corwin; xylophone solo – Haleigh Tague; trumpet solo – Mariah Gibson; flute solo – Jenny Stanhope; piano solo – Jamie Lunsford, piano solo – Becky Macy, piano solo – Alecia McKee; III — flute solo – Katrina Calhoon.

The I and I- ratings move on to state contest on May 2 at Columbia.

“I am very proud of all the band students for their advancements this year,” said Gene Edwards, band instructor. “I hope all students continue to remain in the band program and continue improving. I also hope we can bring some of the band students back to the program to help the band in its endeavors. I look forward to Gallatin Band doing bigger and better things.”
