Judy Stith and Laura York presented a salary proposal from the CTA to the Winston R-6 Board of Education during their regular meeting held March 17. The board reviewed the 2003-2004 salary proposal. Final salaries will not be set until June, when the board has more information from the state legislature regarding school finances.
Bruce Bielby was hired as special education instructor for the 2003-2004 school year.
Judy Stith also presented a program evaluation on professional development which the board reviewed and approved.
High School Principal David Michael reported an enrollment of 83 in grades 7-12 with a 95% attendance rate. Elementary Principal Lisa Bielby reported an enrollment of 120 in grades kindergarten through sixth, 19 in preschool, and an attendance rate of 94% for February.
The board reviewed and approved the calendar of events.
During executive session, the council reviewed certified personnel evaluations and non-certified personnel evaluations. Contracts were offered to certified, non-certified and extra-duty personnel for the 2003-2004 school year.
The board went over a list of summer projects and discussed summer school.
The date for re-organizing the board after the April 8 election was scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 9.
The next regular meeting was set for Thursday, April 17.
