Gallatin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met March 12 at the home of Nancy Terry with nine members present. Regent Jeannie Carpenter led the opening ritual and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. President General’s message was read by Beverly Ward followed by National Defense Report. Jeannie Carpenter and Lucille Bruce were to attend State Conference in Jefferson City on Saturday.

Fallis Froman was to attend on the 14th and 16th and participate as Honorary State Regent. State Good Citizen winner was announced with Jamie Lunsford taking first place. A thank you note was read from Jamie for her appreciation of receiving the Daviess County Good Citizen Award at the February Tea.

Chaplain Lucille Bruce presented a memorial for Bonita Beeler Cook, a long time member, who passed away Jan. 3, 2003. Jeannie Carpenter a gave program on Roslyn Heights and hostess Nancy Terry served refreshments. Next meeting is at 1:30 p.m. on April 9 at the home of Fallis Froman with program. A report on State Conference and a short history of Missouri State Society of DAR was given.

The Knee-Hi 4-H Club met on March 12 at the Christian Church Fellowship Hall. President Riley Rains called the meeting to order. Breanne Brammer led the group in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and Danielle Ness led the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was taken by naming something green. The treasurer’s report was given.

Members were told to be watching their mail boxes for camp enrollment forms and to read and keep future issues of “News and Notes.” The Daviess County Jr. Livestock Show dates were discussed. Ideas were presented for future community service activities.

Contest Day was discussed along with describing the different activities that the members can participate in during the day. Leader Alicia Chrisman led the group in a round of 4-H trivia as part of the program. The next meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at the fellowship hall. The new Youth Specialist Katie Ketchum is scheduled to attend and present the program.
