Gallatin R-5 youngest musicians grades five through eight participated in festival

On Feb. 15, some of the Gallatin R-5 youngest musicians grades five through eight participated in the Richmond Middle School Festival at Richmond Middle School in Richmond. The students prepared their solos or ensembles over the past four weeks. They worked in class and after school for extra assistance from Mr. Edwards. They performed their solos and ensembles for judges that were looking for competency in the following: tone, technique (articulation, breathing, embouchure, rhythm, correct pitches and posture); Interpretation (expression, phrasing, style and tempo); musical effect: (artistry and fluency); choice of music, stage presence, appearance, and ensemble balance. The students were assessed rating I-III (with I being the highest rating) based on the above criterion. The following is the individual results of the contest:

Gallatin had a total of 46 entries perform with 20 of them receiving I ratings; 11 I- ratings; 10 II+ ratings; 5 II ratings. Mr. Edwards appreciates all of the people that made the day a success.
