Memorial services for Elsie A. Hughes were held Saturday at the Jamesport Community Building. Arrangements were by McWilliams Family Funeral Homes in Jamesport.

Elsie Adaline Hughes, 80, Jamesport, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton.

Mrs. Hughes was born March 29, 1922.

She married Harry High in New Mexico in 1936. She married Lindsey Bowman in 1940 and lived in St. Joseph, until his death in 1966. Then she married James Hughes. He died in 1998. Later that year, she moved to Jamesport to make her home.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 50 years.

She was also preceded in death by five sons, Arthur, Lindsey, Danny, Darrell and Dennis Bowman; one sister; and four brothers.

Survivors include one son, Arthur Van Bowman, St. Joseph; two daughters, Mary Mace, Skidmore, and Nancy McGinnis, Jamesport; two brothers, Bill Bascue, Clarksdale, Wayne Bascue, Stanberry; one sister, Josephine Pike, St. Joseph; 26 grandchildren; 49 great- grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
