January Students of the Month

The January Students of the Month are Bryan Griffin and Brianna Weber. Bryan Griffin is a junior this year. He is involved in varsity basketball, student council, and was in the second quarter Good Citizens Club. Brianna Weber is a seventh grader this year.

She was on the “A Honor Roll” first quarter and the “B Honor Roll” second quarter. She is the seventh grade vice- president, in the Good Citizens Club first and second quarter, and plays on the junior high academic team. She was also awarded third chair in the HDC Conference Band.

Service Club sponsors several events

The R-3 Service Club recently sponsored the Hoops for Heart event for the American Heart Association. Four students, Cody Cook, Crystal Cook, Meghan Roberts and Mark McNeely, participated in a shooting contest at the elementary school.

The Service Club is looking into planning a blood drive. Watch for information.

The Service Club will sponsor “Pennies for Patients.” This is a national fund-raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Decorated cans to collect change will be made available at the elementary and high school during the weeks of Feb. 3-21. If $225 is collected at either building, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will give us a pizza party. Please help to support in the fight against cancer.

Jump Rope for Heart

R-3 elementary students recently participated in Jump Rope for Heart. The students collected donations for the American Heart Association over winter break. Six students collected a total of $286. The top two were RosaAnna Parsons and Nick Taul. Other students collecting donations were Marissa McNeely, Hannah Sweet, Grant Hartley, Garrett Hartley and Jackie Bartz.
