A memorial service for Merle McMillin Tadlock was held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Sisco Funeral Home Chapel in Pea Ridge, Ariz. Interment of cremains will be at the VA National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark., at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, with full military honors by Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard, Rogers, Ark. Merle McMillin Tadlock, 88, of Pea Ridge, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 9, at his home.

Mr. Tadlock was born April 25, 1914, at Blue Mound, Ill., to Charles Franklin Tadlock and Nellie Jan True Tadlock.

Mr. Tadlock was a veteran of WWII serving as a Sergeant in the 13th Air Force 370thBombardment Squadron fighting in the South Pacific.

After being discharged from the service Mr. Tadlock moved to Gallatin. He was in partnership with his father in the Western Auto Store and a farmer in Gallatin. In 1960 he moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where he made his home for the next 18 ½ years. He worked as a meat cutter and was in business with his son-in-law. After retiring, he moved to Pea Ridge in 1979.

Mr. Tadlock was a member of the Gallatin Riding Club; St. James Methodist Church in St. Petersburg; the Meat Cutters Union in Kansas City; Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club; and Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.

He married Mamie Louise Wells on Jan. 24, 1943.

Mr. Tadlock was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Charles “Chuck”; and one son, James McMIllin in 1973.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mamie Tadlock of Pea Ridge; one daughter, Jackie Blevins of Pea Ridge; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
