The Hamilton Police Department responded to 711 W. McGaughy #8 in reference to a report of non-responsive individual at about 9:10 a.m. on Dec. 12. Caldwell County EMS also responded to the scene and upon arrival determined that Joshua S. Eaton was deceased. Due to his age and the questionable cause of death, the incident was treated as a possible homicide.

A thorough investigation was conducted by the Hamilton Police Department, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State highway Patrol’s crime unit (DDCC- Division of Drug & Crime Control).

An autopsy was conducted by the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office, located at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. The autopsy revealed that Mr. Eaton had no signs of blunt trauma on his body, nor did he have any bullet wounds. Pending a toxicology report researching the content of his blood, Mr. Eaton seems to have died of natural causes (possibly alcohol or drug poisoning).
