Funeral services for Carl M. Uthe were held Dec. 10, 2002, at Stroup-Thompson Funeral Home in Winston. Arrangements were by Stoup-Thompson Funeral Home, Winston. Burial was at Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron. Memorials may be made to the Comfort Care Hospice and/or Missouri Veterans Home, both of Cameron.

Carl Martin Uthe, 78, Winston, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at the Missouri Veterans Home, Cameron.

Mr. Uthe was born on June 1, 1924, in Daviess County to Jurd William and Carrie Elvira (Cook) Uthe.

Mr. Uthe served in the Army from June 1945 to January 1947. He was assigned to a Military Police Battalion in Post-War Italy. After his discharge from the service, he returned to Winston, where he and his wife, Mary, farmed for nearly 50 years.

Mr. Uthe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winston and of the National Farmers Organization.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and J.W.; and an infant grandson, Mark Stout.

Mr. Uthe married Mary Collier on March 21, 1944. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Donnie Uthe, Winston, and Wayne Uthe, Altamont; two daughters, Carol Stout and Joyce Shaul, both of Cameron; three sisters, Marjorie Becker, Pattonsburg; Bessie Dunham, Maysville; and Helen Shaw, Albany; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
