Thanksgiving is a special day

we celebrate each year.

Throughout our country far and wide

are loved ones we hold dear.

Some go to grandads and grandmas,

others to moms and dads.

Then there are those, whom God only knows,

are alone and lonely and sad.

It began long ago when a few grateful people,

after harvest time had come,

Came together and made a great feast,

thanking God for what He had done.

Thanked God for they knew that without Him,

who sends the sunshine and rain,

They could plan and plant and hoe and dig,

that there would be no harvest of grain.

So many forget to say “thank you,”

and take life for granted, you see.

They hurry along in life’s mad throng,

yes, even you and me.

Remember Thanksgiving is coming.

Must it be only one day a year?

In a world plagued with war and starvation,

we live in a country so dear.

Thanksgiving! Do we know what the word really means?

Let’s remember that very first day.

Whether we are alone, or at mom and dad’s,

let’s bow our heads and pray.

Thank God for all of our blessings,

so many we can’t count them.

Thank God… for without Him, there is nothing.

Thanking God, this is Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving.
