The April 2003 election filing dates for two three year terms on the R-3 school board were set during the regular meeting of the North Daviess Board of Education held Nov. 18. Filing dates were set for 8-10 a.m. on Dec. 24 and for normal business hours through Jan. 21, closing at 5 p.m. on that date. The terms of school board members Debbie Ray and Rhonda Sweet will expire April, 2003.

Superintendent Julie Kirby stated that the bid for lunchroom software was $9,700. She also reported that Con Agra was donating computers to the elementary. Elementary Principal Mrs. Steinman said Walmart has donated 10 computers for the school to use.

Financial statement was reported by Pat Heaps. Bills were paid as presented.

Mrs. Lowrey presented the board with the cost of the senior trip to Hawaii and permission slips signed by the senior parents.

There were no applications for substitute bus driver.

Ms. Phipps presented business department strengths with keyboarding changing technology. Ms. Walker presented strengths of the agriculture department. Ms. Leathers presented the FACS program evaluation and suggested new books for the department.

Cheerleaders will be allowed to sell old ball uniform jerseys for $5 and shorts for $1.

Revisions were adopted to the following policies and regulations: Policy 0510, Policy and Regulation 1621, Policy 2180, Regulation 2520, Regulation 3440, Policy 3710, Policy 4520, Policy 6180, and Policy 6420.

Policies 0520, 0530 and 5430 were deleted.

Mrs. Steinman gave a report on Parent/Teacher Conferences, Secret Santa Workshop, drug dog visit, and the partnership with McDonalds Two nursing homes are working with the elementary to complete projects. Approximately 30 students are receiving free after school tutoring.

Petty cash fund was raised to a balance of $1,500.

After returning from executive session, the board set the next regular meeting of the R-3 Board of Education for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, at Jameson.

Board members present at the regular meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education were David Iddings, Donald Baker, Debbie Ray, Beverly Hunter, Chris Nelson. Rhonda Sweet and Kelly Hightree were absent. Superintendent Julie Kirby and board secretary Beverly Hunter were also present. Also attending were Todd Willhite, Sheri Steinman, Annette Lowrey, Julie Leathers, Linda Phipps, Nicki Walker and Pat Heaps.
