Gallatin Board of Aldermen meeting held Nov. 25

It was decided that used utility poles will be sold at the price of .50 per foot with first priority given to residents of Gallatin during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Nov. 25 at city hall.

Chief of Police Jim Wycoff reported that he has patrolled 202 E. Burns numerous times regarding a dog complaint and has not found any dogs in the area. He also reported on the crimes spree that occurred the weekend of Nov. 16. No cars were stolen, just items left in unlocked vehicles. Chief Wycoff reminded everyone to take keys out of vehicles and lock them.

Discussion was held on 2003 proposed budget. Alderman Schweizer made the following motion: “I move we scrap this effort and have Kathy submit a budget that conforms with the provision of 67.020 RSMo.” Motion died for lack of a second.

City administrator was directed to review salary and electric budget.

Board members adopted the following ordinance after first and second readings: An ordinance establishing rules and regulations for the use of excessive force during nonviolent civil rights demonstrations, including physically barring entrance to a facility or location which is the subject of such demonstration, and providing penalties for the violations thereof: in the City of Gallatin, County of Daviess, State of Missouri as follows.

Mayor Davis signed certification regarding government-wide restriction on lobbying.

City employees will get off work at noon on Christmas Eve.

Mrs. Arnold reported that Christmas Eve is the first filing date for the April election and notice will be published that city hall will close at noon that day.

Bills in the amount of $62,830.21 were approved for payment.

During comments by aldermen, Norma Griffin reported that she had received a 1915 copy of Roberts Rule of Order from a person in Florida.

Bob Snidow discussed the possibility of the cable franchise fee being less due to customers converting to satellites.

Gene Schweizer discussed the city administrator’s salary.

Becky Wycoff thanked the city administrator for her work done on the Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.

Mayor Davis discussed the streets breaking up in Sullenger’s addition. General discussion followed.

The above are the unapproved minutes of the regular meeting for the city of Gallatin held on Monday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. at city hall. Present were Mayor L.B. Davis, aldermen Robert Snidow, Norma Griffin, Gene Schweizer, Becky Wycoff, City Administrator/Clerk Kathy Arnold, Police Chief Jim Wycoff and Utility Superintendent Roger Loxterman.
