Eighty-seven members of the Missouri Army National Guard have received an alert for mobilization
Eighty-seven members of the Missouri Army National Guard have received an alert for mobilization for duty for Operation Joint Forge with the 35th Infantry Division.
The Department of Defense alert for mobilization indicated that the call up is for Task Force Eagle in Bosnia in support of NATO peacekeeping forces. Troops are expected bo mobilize in November and December, deploy to Bosnia in January and conduct a six-month deployment in Bosnia.
Missouri National Guard members deploying with the unit include soldiers from the 35thDivision Support command in Lexington; Headquarters, 735th Main Support Battalion, Poplar Bluff; Company E, 735th Main Support Battalion, Springfield; 135th Signal Battalion, St. Joseph; 635th Military Intelligence Battalion, Kansas City; and 35th Infantry Division Engineers, Cape Girardeau.
The 35th Division is headquartered in Kansas and has units in Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Alabama.
The mission, for the multinational division of Task Force Eagle, is to contribute to a safe and secure environment, within its area of operations, through the deterrence of hostilities and to support primary civil implementation organizations to help create the conditions for a lasting consolidation of peace with the need of NATO-led forces.
