Gallatin R-5 Superintendent James Ruse presented the final, comprehensive budget to Board of Education members during their regular meeting held Oct. 17. Highlights from his budget message included the need to continue upgrading and maintaining technology for students; continue teacher inservice training; continue K-12 test score improvement; maintain a graduation rate of 97% or better; integrate more technology at the upper elementary grades; and maintain and strive for 100 out of 100 on the Annual Performance Report for 2003-2004.
Bills in the amount of $180,000 were approved for payment.
The ledger of year to date expenditures was given and investments presented to the board. Investments range around 2%.
The board approved board policies handed out in previous meetings as part of MSBA program
An audit report was presented by Kevin Hudson. The board approved the report.
The Annual Performance Report was given by Mr Ruse. Testing results of MAP 2001-2002 were presented by Jerry Batson, Mike Burrell, Kelly Warren and Louise Bird.
Mr. Ruse spoke briefly about the upcoming year’s summer school. He attended the October MASA state meeting and gave a report.
Administrative reports were heard by Mrs. Warren, Mr. Burrell and Mr. Elbert.
The next scheduled Board of Education meeting is Nov. 14.
Board members present at the regular meeting of the Gallatin R-5 Board of Education held on Oct. 17 were Stan Ellis, Brice Terry, Bill Irby, Roy Pendleton, Sandra Alden, Danny Dixon and Vance Hefley.
