The Daviess County 4-H Recognition Event was held Oct. 21, 2002, at the Jamesport Elementary School. Toni Cox, club leader of the Brushy Squirrels 4-H Club, opened the event with a welcome.

The Gallatin Lions Club was again the major contributor for our recognition awards with their generous annual gift. The Farmers State Bank sponsored the member pins and the BTC Bank sponsored the leaders pins.

Our Outstanding 1st Year Member awards were given to Madison Huston and Andon Riordan, Jamesport’s Brushy Squirrels; Sarah Emerson and Bradyn Gardner, Pattonsburg’s Elm Flat Clever Clovers; and Kaitlyn Keck and Breanne Brammer of Gallatin’s Knee Hi 4-H Club.

The 4-H Member Sprit award was won by Nicole May and Lance Huston, Brushy Squirrels; Bradyn Gardner and Sarah Emerson, Elm Flat Clever Clovers; and Wren Tolen and Danielle Ness, Knee Hi.

The Key Leaders Award was given to Gerri Huston and Steve May, Brushy Squirrels; Sandra Alden and Ted Keck, Knee Hi.

Those members turning in project books were Colter Hill, Ben Weldon, Danielle Ness, Erin Croy, Kyle Croy and Kaitlyn Keck.

From these reports Green Hills Telephone Company from Breckenridge awarded savings bonds to Danielle Ness for the Best Girl Report Record and Ben Weldon for the Best Boy Report Record.

The 4-H Project Leaders receiving 1st year pins were David Cox, Toni Cox, Kim Brammer, and Ted Keck. Third year leader pins went to Teresa Hamilton, Doug Alden, Alicia Chrisman, Pam Critten, Mike Emerson and Virgil Gardner. Fifth year leader receiving a pin was Sandy Dustman. Misse Tolen received her 10th year pin.

The Froman family sponsored the Girl Rookie of the Year award in memory of Lea Jane Froman. This year’s nominees were Madison Huston, Brushy Squirrels; and Danielle Ness, Knee Hi. Congratulations to Danielle Ness. Sally Minnick represented the Minnick family in presenting the Boy Rookie of the Year in memory of Randy Minnick.

This year’s nominees were Andon Riordan and Daniel Gingerich, Brushy Squirrels. Congratulations to Daniel Gingerich.

Ben Weldon, Knee Hi, received the Key Award. The Danforth’s Award was presented to Erin Croy, Knee Hi.

Secretary of the Year was Bailey Huston, Brushy Squirrels. Other nominees were Jamie Tummons, Knee Hi. Treasurer of the Year was Nicole May. Club Scrapbook of the year was presented to Savannah Cox, Brushy Squirrels. Individual Scrapbooks turned in were Colter Hill, Danielle Ness and Ben Weldon.
