*A St. Louis Rams fan boasts that at least his team won’t disappoint Missouri fans by losing in this season’s NFL playoff series.

*Maybe the Washington sniper is really only a disgruntled American who, like many others, believes the nation’s capital is an evil place.

*It seems impossible to contemplate, but after more than half a century, U.S. politicians are still accusing their opponents of trying to destroy Social Security.

*An amendment on the November general election ballot would give St. Louisans control of their city government, raising the problem of how to control something already out of control.

*If our state’s political parties hope to regain the public’s trust, perhaps they should stop offering candidates who are convicted felons or impeached former officeholders.

*Pity President Bush, who’s in charge of locating missing persons anywhere in the world, including Osama bin Laden in Asia and a sniper in his very own neighborhood.

*I shouldn’t be hard to locate good tips on the stock market: look for one that hasn’t scraped the bottom recently.
