Funeral services for Lester G. Hessemyer were held Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Bethany.
Lester G. Hessemyer, 92, Bethany, formerly of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at the Liberty hospital.
Born on March 23, 1910, in Easton, Mr. Hessemyer was the son of John and Ida (Switzer) Hessemyer.
Mr. Hessemyer served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Hessemyer retired as a salesman for Wyeth Hardware in St. Joseph after 44 years of service.
He was a member of the American Legion at Bethany. He also was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bethany.
On March 26, 1937, he married Ruth Kimball in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Other survivors include two daughters, Valerie Wertz, Blaine, Minn.; and Sue Sisk, Mooresville, N.C.; two brothers, Hilen and Howard Hessemyer; and two sisters, Wanda Gawatz and Lila Gregory, all of St. Joseph; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
