Hamilton’s Emily Greenwood scattered 4 hits and struck out 9 batters, including 2 in the 7th inning, as the Lady Hornets held on to oust Gallatin from the Class 2, District 15 last Wednesday in Maysville.

Hamilton advanced with the 3-2 victory, but fell victim Thursday to top-seeded South Harrison, 13-1.

Gallatin produced 2-out baserunners in each of the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th innings, but could only plate a pair of unearned runs in the contest.

Lindsey Love, who singled twice for the Lady Bulldogs, scored the initial GHS run in the 4th. Kamille Burrell, walked in the 5th, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on Brook Carder’s ground out and came home when Hamilton’s centerfielder dropped Kelsie Parker’s fly ball.

Roxi Davitt pitched 7-hit ball for Gallatin and took the loss despite retiring 7 in a row to end the game. Only 2 of Hamilton’s runs were earned.

The Lady Bulldogs threatened to send the game into extra innings when Kamille Burrell singled with 2 outs in the 7th but Greenwood was able to retire Carder on a ground ball to 2nd base.

The Lady Bulldogs finished with their best record (10-11) in 5 years and also chalked up their best Grand River Conference finish (5-3) since 1997.
