For the first time since April 13, the racing program at the Winston Speedway was called off because of wet weather.

Saturday night’s championship night of racing was called off at 1:30 p.m. Saturday because of on-going rain and the threat of more rain during the day and evening. Ted Morgan, one of the track’s owners, said the 2002 championship night of racing plus a possible powder puff and mechanics race would be held on Saturday, September 21, at 7 p.m.

The fall racing series will now begin on September 28 and run through October 12 before the big three-day United States Modified Touring Series 3-day race in conjunction with regular Winston cars.
