The 11-day event will take place August 7-17 in Sedalia
The Missouri State Fair Commission has set the dates for the 2003 Missouri State Fair. The 11-day event will take place August 7-17 in Sedalia. This is a change from the dates originally posted. Earlier, fair officials had announced the start date as August 14, the second Thursday of the month.
“We found this date was going to conflict with many school openings,” said Mel Willard, fair director. “Consequently, the commission decided it would be best for our fairgoers to move the fair dates up one week.”
An additional consideration was that several other state fairs had adjusted their dates to start the first week in August. Willard said, “Part of the reason we have been able to attract big name entertainers is because our talent agency is able to route these acts to several venues during our 11-day run. Changing our dates to the first week in August for 2003 will help us maintain this scheduling advantage.”
Mark your calendars today for August 7-17, 2003, so you won’t miss Missouri’s number one showcase of the best of the best. For a look back at the 2002 Missouri State Fair visit www.mostatefair.com.
