The Winston R-6 School Board met Aug. 15 with the following members attending: Gary Caldwell, Melvin Lee, Chretta Mastin, Julie Clark, David Neth, and Shelly Mason, as well as Superintendent Wendell Burns, High School Principal David Michael and Elementary Principal Lisa Bielby.

The board set the tax levy for the 2002-03 school year at $4.15, which is the same as last year.

Mr. Michael reported a pre-enrollment of 84 students in grades 7-12. Mrs. Bielby reported pre- enrollment of 15 students in preschool and 107 students in grades K-6.

The board approved the technology plan for the 2002-03 school year, and reviewed the calendar of events. The Schumacher Agency was approved as the provider for student insurance for 2002- 03.

The board elected not to attend the MSBA fall meeting this year. The board also voted not to waive the residency policy for two students.

Scott Neth, Winston R-6 student, presented an Eagle Scout project proposal, and the board approved it.

The next meeting of the Winston School Board was set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the school cafeteria.
