North Central Missouri College’s Adult Education & Literacy Program now has a screening tool called Powerpath that can identify learning difficulties an adult may have.
Powerpath screening identifies weaknesses of the adult learner in vision and hearing functions and processing, as well as reading encoding and decoding, among other difficulties.
“We hope to help adults identify any correctable learning difficulties, which will make their learning process easier and more effective, thus allowing them to further their education,” said John Stains, NCMC’s AEL Director. “Pam Dedrick, our AEL instructor in Chillicothe, has completed to a three-day workshop in order to administer the screening, and we believe we can help others improve their educational opportunities.”
Adults aged 18 years or older can have their vision and hearing checked on Wed., August 28, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the AEL class site in Chillicothe (Garrison Building, 209 Henry Street). The free screening will also be offered at other times, by appointment. Screenings typically about one hour per person, resulting in an personalized, printed report.
For more information about the Powerpath program or the free screening, please contact Pam Dedrick at 660-646-1488 or John Stains at 660-359-6687.
